Unlike Sydney or Newcastle, the Central Coast doesn't have a separate water corporation, Central Coast Council is both the local council and the region's water and sewer authority, supplying water and sewerage to around 150,000 properties.

Understanding Central Coast Plumbing Needs
Your home's coastal soil, tidal groundwater and salt laden air make plumbing here fundamentally different from plumbing work inland, and that difference is why we train our plumbers specifically for Central Coast conditions. Salt air corrosion is the biggest threat to pipes near the coast, as chloride and sulphate ions from saline groundwater and salt aerosols attack cement based pipe materials such as terracotta, asbestos cement and vitreous clay from the outside in. Many Central Coast homes built between the 1950s and 1970s still run on terracotta, asbestos cement or cast iron, materials governed today under the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011 (NSW) and the AS/NZS 3500 plumbing code, and these older materials corrode and shift with ground movement. Central Coast Council manages roughly 2,200 kilometres of sewer mains and has committed $11 million to relining and upgrading ageing sewerage infrastructure across the region, and tree roots and inappropriate flushing are the two causes cited most often for blockages.
